Wooded area cleared from the center of the Magic Kingdom parking lot

The wooded area located in the middle of the Magic Kingdom’s parking lot is being cut down and cleared to make way for additional parking. Disney is expected to plant a new wooded area south of the current parking lot in the area that was previously home to the Walt Disney World Speedway.

The always awesome @bioreconstruct provided a look at the clearing progress.

The area in question can be found in the very center of the Magic Kingdom parking lot. It was always nice to see some nature in the middle of this giant parking lot, but it makes sense to expand here before expanding the parking lot’s overall boundaries.

The area that’s expected to become the new wooded area can be found where the old Walt Disney World Speedway used to reside. It’s believed that trees and bushes will be planted near the Mickey pond.

To date, this project has been moving pretty quickly. Disney should have everything wrapped up well in advance of the holiday crowds that may require the additional parking.
