Video: Small Fire Breaks Out on the Outside of Little Mermaid Ride at Magic Kingdom

Updated:

A small fire broke out on the exterior of Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid at the Magic Kingdom on Saturday night. The fire appeared to be caused by fireworks debris, and was thankfully contained to a small area.

One guest captured a quick video of the fire.

The fire was spotted among the rockwork and plants on the exterior of the Little Mermaid ride. The attraction closed for the remainder of the night while the area was inspected. The ride reopened on Sunday and the damage appeared to be relatively minor.

This isn’t the first time fireworks debris has caused a fire at the Magic Kingdom. Fallout from fireworks was believed to be the cause of a small fire near Cinderella Castle that led to emergency vehicles traveling up Main Street U.S.A. in December 2021. A larger fire broke out on top of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train coaster back in 2014.
