An updated version of the Rivers of Light show is coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Beginning this weekend, Rivers of Light will become Rivers of Light: We Are One and will receive an injection of animals and songs from Disney’s animated and Disneynature films.
Disney created a quick preview highlighting and discussing the changes to the show.
The original Rivers of Light has received mixed reviews from guests since its debut in 2017. Though most would agree the music is fantastic, the lack of overall story and the unreliable effects (even light wind ruins the water screens) can make the show feel a bit mediocre. It also feels like it’s lacking a distinguishable finale, which has left guests a bit puzzled when they suddenly realize the show is over.
We welcome Disney trying to improve a show that hasn’t been a big hit with guests, but we’re not convinced adding in Disney characters and songs will be enough of a fix.
