Video: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Super Bowl Commercial

Disney was well-represented during Super Bowl LVII. In addition to spots for upcoming movies Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Disney ran a special commercial celebrating their 100th anniversary.

The Disney100 ad ran relatively late in the game, but quickly joined the conversation for best spot of the night.

Disney’s Super Bowl ad was just about perfect. It accurately depicted what makes Disney so special, which isn’t an easy task to pull off in 90 seconds.

The ad feels like a direct response from Disney CEO Bob Iger to those who have felt the company has been misguided in recent years. The line about storytelling is almost a direct quote from Iger that he has been preaching since he returned as CEO.

As Disney prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary, this feels like a pivotal moment in the company’s future. They’ve recently survived a proxy fight, but more challenges remain. More works needs to be done to undo the damage of the last several years, some of which Iger himself created.
