Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has been described as a family-friendly “storytelling coaster” that will use innovative ride vehicles to whisk guests through a thrilling adventure. Disney has provided a brand new look at the ride vehicles that will carry riders when the coaster opens at Epcot in 2021.
The vehicles will be capable of rotating 360 degrees and are able to perform a backwards launch.
It may be easy to think of rides like Primeval Whirl and even the Mad Tea Party when you hear about a spinning ride vehicle. That may sound like an unappealing recipe for a dizzy experience. Thankfully, the coaster cars for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will use a “controlled spin” that will point riders in the direction of show scenes, meaning they won’t be spinning freely.
Disney has been fairly secretive when it comes to specific details about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. So far we have seen the ride vehicles, we know the cars will spin, we know a reverse launch will be used and we know it’s “one of the longest” indoor coasters in the world. We also know it’s a storytelling coaster, but details on what that actually means and how in depth the scenes will be haven’t been revealed. Additional facts such as top speed and highest drop haven’t been disclosed at this time.
Hopefully Disney provides a closer look at the coaster in the near future.
