Video: A behind-the-scenes look at Epcot’s new show ‘Harmonious’

Updated:

Disney has shared a video that takes guests behind the scenes of Epcot’s newest nighttime spectacular Harmonious. The new show, which will debut October 1, 2021, will be broken into three acts and will feature fountains, lights, video screens and fireworks.

Watch the video below to learn more about what Harmonious will bring to Epcot.

Disney also shared this description for Harmonious:

The show moves through three distinct chapters, inviting us to gather on the shores of World Showcase Lagoon, celebrate the countries and cultures of the world, and ultimately unite to create a bright tomorrow. โ€œHarmoniousโ€ begins with a sunrise, and as the world awakens around us, we set out on a journey that takes us across the globe. Itโ€™s a dazzling and diverse feast for the eyes and ears, from the South Pacific home of โ€œMoanaโ€ and a Middle-Eastern interpretation of โ€œAladdinโ€ to โ€œThe Jungle Bookโ€ in India, Chinaโ€™s legend of โ€œMulan,โ€ the European nations that inspired โ€œBraveโ€ and โ€œThe Hunchback of Notre Dame,โ€ and so much more.

There’s no question that Harmonious will be a technical masterpiece. The fountains, lighting and fireworks should create a show that wows guests. But, we unfortunately have our doubts about Harmonious.

We can’t help but question the content as it feels very similar to the nighttime shows at Magic Kingdom. The infusion of Disney characters is expected given recent decisions at Walt Disney World, but we hope it doesn’t feel like Magic Kingdom 2.0.

It’s also impossible to ignore the massive barges that have ruined many of the daytime sightlines at Epcot. While the barges may help create an amazing show each night, ruining views for about a 20-minute payoff each night is a steep cost. We sincerely wish Disney would have made the barges movable or created a different concept that didn’t stick out so badly.

Hopefully our fears will be alleviated when Harmonious begins on October 1, 2021.
