Train stations may soon connect Walt Disney World and Orlando International Airport

Updated:

Guests planning to visit Walt Disney World may have more transportation options in the near future. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Virgin Trains plans to connect Walt Disney World to the Orlando International Airport with newly constructed stations.

Officials with the company stated that they aim to start construction “immediately” and hope to have everything completed after 30 to 36 months of construction.

The Orlando Sentinel report states that Virgin Trains officials have been working with Disney, and are looking at locations that would be suitable for a new station.

Virgin Trains president Patrick Goddard spoke about connecting to Disney.

“[It] would integrate with their transportation system, hotels and theme parks.”

It’s possible that Walt Disney World guests will have a new way to travel around central and south Florida. It’s also possible that Disney may reevaulate its current Magical Express system should rail directly connect the two locations in the future.

Stay tuned.
