Tom Sawyer Island to close for over 2 months to end 2018

Updated:

Tom Sawyer Island at the Magic Kingdom is scheduled to close for a little over two months to end 2018. The closure is scheduled to run from October 14, 2018 through December 21, 2018.

Currently, it’s unclear whether or not this closure is related to the delayed refurbishment project on the Liberty Square Riverboat. That project required draining a portion of the river near the Haunted Mansion to repair portions of the boat’s track.

Guests access Tom Sawyer Island by rafts that cross the Rivers of America. It’s possible that the extended work on the Riverboat will interfere with how guests access the Island, requiring the closure.

Tom Sawyer Island can be described as an enormous playground for kids. With caves, bridges and a fort, it’s a great place to let imaginations run wild.
