The runDisney 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend has been cancelled

The runDisney 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend scheduled for April 16-19, 2020 at Walt Disney World has been cancelled. The organizers of runDisney placed the cancellation notice on their website, citing the rapidly changing global situation and the need for local medical assistance as their primary reasons to cancel the event.

In an abundance of caution, the 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend will be cancelled. In addition, because our runDisney races require the presence of local medical professionals and first responders to monitor and treat runners, this will free up those resources for more critical needs during this time.

All participants for the Star Wars Rival Run Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort who purchased their registrations on runDisney.com will receive a refund for their race registration.

Refunds will be given over the next four to six weeks. The refund process will vary slightly depending on how runners registered for the races. Visit the runDisney website to see how refunds will be handled for the various booking methods.

This is the right call by runDisney. With the CDC estimating the ongoing situation may last for months and larger races around the country already calling off their races, runDisney wasn’t left with much of a choice. Some hope persisted as Walt Disney World has only officially said its closure is through the end of March, but that’s expected to be extended in the very near future.
