Big changes are coming to the old Universe of Energy pavilion in Epcot as the transformation to a new Guardians of the Galaxy indoor coaster is prepared. Most of the attention has been on the enormous ride building going up near the original Universe of Energy building, but now there are some visible changes to the old building itself.
The familiar, mirrored-tile look of the Universe of Energy building is now a thing of the past. The photos above and below, courtesy of @bioreconstruct, show what the building looks like now that all of the tile has been removed.

By comparison, here’s what the building looked like shortly after it closed for construction.
While it’s slightly disappointing to watch the old Universe of Energy building lose its familiar look, the retheming for the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster is expected.
Below is a look at the concept art that shows roughly what the building will look like when the project is completed.
The exterior of the building appears to have a more sleek, modern appearance. Notably missing from the concept art is the huge ride building that should be visible back and to the right of the main building. Given that building’s immense size, you won’t be able to miss it.

Look for more changes to come to the old Universe of Energy building as work progresses on Epcot’s upcoming indoor coaster.
