Smart speakers are being tested at select hotel rooms in Walt Disney World

Date:

Guest may have a new way to obtain information while staying at Walt Disney World. Guests staying at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort are reportedly being asked at random to test new smart speakers inside their rooms.

The speakers, which are similar to Amazon’s Alexa or Google Home devices, will provide specific information for Walt Disney World in addition to being able to tell the weather and play music. Information specific to Walt Disney World may include bus schedules, park hours, entertainment schedules and more.

Disney has continually pressed forward in bringing new technology in front of guests in order to make their vacations more convenient. Other recent developments have included the ability to open your hotel room with your phone, the ability to see bus schedules from the My Disney Experience app and the increase in Mobile Ordering at quick-service locations.

While the ability to access information more easily while staying on property is important, the key will be ensuring the information guests are receiving is accurate. A guest won’t be too pleased if their smart speaker says a bus will arrive in five minutes when it actually arrives in 20.
