Service gondolas may now be seen on the Disney Skyliner

Work has taken to the sky for the Disney Skyliner transportation system. Crews may now be seen using service gondolas throughout various sections of the line around Walt Disney World.

The photo at the top of the page, courtesy of GCTales, shows crews working on a section over the parking lot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Beyond testing the line itself, the crews appear to be connecting another cable (possibly one for communications) to one of the overhead cables.

The service gondolas are very different than the ones guests will use to travel around Disney World. Click here to learn more about the themed gondola cars guests will ride in, including the fact they won’t have air conditioning.

The Disney Skyliner is expected to open no later than Fall 2019. Once open, gondolas will provide a new method of transportation for guests at two theme parks and four Disney resorts. Click here to learn more about our speed and travel time estimates while riding the Disney Skyliner.
