Director James Gunn provided a quick update on the ride scenes for Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster. When Gunn’s busy 2021 schedule was highlighted on Twitter, a user asked about scenes for the Walt Disney World roller coaster. Gunn responded that filming the ride scenes is also on the agenda.
Here’s how the conversation played out.

This provoked the question about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and whether the ride’s scenes have been completed.
Are ride scenes for GotG: Cosmic Rewind also on the itinerary @JamesGunn, or has that been done separately? https://t.co/mZyW9zZ9yn

Gunn took the time to personally respond, saying that the scenes that will be used in the attraction are also scheduled.

Currently, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind appearsto be targeting a 2022 opening. Some guests have been hopeful that timeline will be accelerated, but Gunn confirming scenes won’t be shot until later in 2021 should dampen those expectations.
