Permit filed for TRON coaster track installation at the Magic Kingdom

A new permit has been filed marking a significant milestone for the construction of the TRON coaster at the Magic Kingdom. The permit states that Coastal Steel Inc. will begin to install “ride steel” for the TRON coaster in the location located just behind the Tomorrowland Speedway.

Previously, we’ve seen that the location for the ride has been cleared and some foundation work was already underway. It remains to be seen just how quickly the track installation will go up ahead of the ride’s expected opening in 2021.

It’s worth noting that it’s very possible the entire coaster track will be installed before the ride building is even constructed. For reference, the TRON coaster in Shanghai Disneyland had its track installed first before a building went up later. This offered some remarkable views of the coaster track before it was hidden from view.

The folks over at Blog Mickey pointed out that Coastal Steel Inc. has a lengthy history working with previous Walt Disney World projects. They’ve worked on Expedition Everest, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and several other Orlando attractions.
