Disney has filed a new construction permit for Harmonious, the nighttime spectacular that’s being prepared at Epcot. The permit calls for the “installation of anchors to provide additional mooring” for the show’s massive center barge.
Below is an except from the permit:
The permit expires December 21, 2021, but we would expect the work to be completed well before that date.
We have seen the barges taking shape backstage at World Showcase over the past several weeks. An aerial view of the construction area shows off some of the details of the huge barges. In terms of size, compare the center barge (the large ring) to the two Friendship Boats that are docked nearby.
The permit reiterates how big the show pieces are for Harmonious and it may indicate the center barge will remain anchored in World Showcase Lagoon. That’s in contrast to the barges for IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth that were moved into position each day.
An official debut date for Harmonious hasn’t been announced at this time.
