Earlier this week, Disney World cast members started handing out Ziploc bags at Splash Mountain thanks to a new sponsorship. The idea was that guests could store their phones or other valuable items in the bags to keep them dry on the ride. As they exit the attraction, guests can either keep the bag as a souvenir or deposit them in a recycling bin.
Perhaps to the surprise of no one, people are already trying to sell the bags on eBay. One eBay listing is asking for $19.99 for each of the two themed bags, but the sellers have generously thrown in free shipping.
This whole thing seems kind of ridiculous, and that’s not even adding in the fact that there’s been a conscious move away from plastic waste at Disney parks.
Of course, the old rule is that an item is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. So far, no one has decided to shell out nearly $20 for a Ziploc bag.
