Okapi calf born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Updated:

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has announced that a new Okapi calf was born at the resort on October 1, 2018. The 54-pound male has been spending his time in a backstage habitat and nursing with his mom, Zelda.

Once he’s a bit older, the calf will join the other animals and roam around theย savanna.

Not only is this an adorable addition to Animal Kingdom Lodge, it’s an important one. Okapi are an endangered species, and there are only an estimated 20,000 alive in the world today.
