It has been widely reported that Future World at Epcot would receive a massive transformation over the next few years. Details of that transformation have been relatively limited and unconfirmed by Disney, but we now have official concept art that reveals some of the upcoming changes.
Below is the most recent Epcot concept art shown during the media preview for D23 Expo 2019. Notice anything new or missing?
The most glaring difference between the Future World of today and the one shown in the concept art is Innoventions West – or the lack of Innoventions West. It looks like the area where Innoventions West currently resides will partially host the new Journey of Water attraction that was recently announced. A considerable amount of new landscaping will assist in transforming large areas of Future World.
It’s also worth noting that the Imagination Pavilion, a location that is seemingly always at the heart of demolishment rumors, is still depicted in the new concept art. So too are The Seas and The Land pavilions that were also in some unreliable demolishment rumors.
Near the center of the picture we can see a new structure that will presumably be announced this weekend. Finally, wrapping things up, the new fireworks show is on full display in the center of World Showcase.
