Disney has released some big news regarding future changes coming to Epcot. New details have been released regarding a significant reimagining coming to the main entrance of Epcot, the old Wonders of Life Pavilion and the Odyssey Events Pavilion.
Brand new concept art, shown above, reflects what the main entrance at Epcot will look like following the changes. The old Leave A Legacy photos will be moved just outside of the park’s entrance. New walkways, landscaping and a redesigned fountain will welcome guests to Epcot in a nod to what the park’s original entrance looked like.
Zooming in, the fountain appears to be a tribute to the old sculpture that was in place when the park opened.
Just in case you don’t remember what the front entrance of Epcot looks like, this comparison might help.
Shifting over to the old Wonders of Life Pavilion, Disney is transforming the space into a brand new Play Pavilion. The new Play Pavilion will feature an innovative and interactive “city” that encourages guests to (you guessed it) play. The Play Pavilion will have hands-on activities, character meet and greets and interactive experiences.
The Play Pavilion is expected to open in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
Disney also teased that other significant changes are coming to the area between Spaceship Earth and the World Showcase Promenade. Disney insiders have stated that a major refurbishment is coming to Spaceship Earth itself. The long-term overhaul of Future World may even include significant changes to Innoventions East and Innoventions West, with some rumors suggesting one of the buildings could be demolished.
To showcase all of the upcoming projects at Epcot, Disney will be opening an Experience Center inside the Odyssey Events Pavilion. There guests will have an interactive way to see what’s in store at Epcot.
