New concept art released for TRON Lightcycle Run at the Magic Kingdom

The new TRON coaster that’s coming to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom has an official name and some brand new concept art. The coaster will be officially called TRON Lightcycle Run, which is a slight variation on the TRON Lightcycle Power Run that resides in Shanghai Disneyland.

In addition to the finalized name, the D23 Expo 2019 also gave us a look at some new concept art, the ride vehicle and cast member costumes.

Let’s take a closer look at that concept art.

We can immediately spot some key differences between this new concept art and the art that was originally released announcing the ride. The old art is featured below.

Though the new art doesn’t show as much of the overall area, we can see that the staircases shown in the original drawing have been replaced by ramps in the new art. The sign for the attraction has been relocated from the canopy to the main walkway. It also appears that a small structure shown between Space Mountain and TRON Lightcycle Run in the original concept art has been removed in the updated version.

As always, it’s important to take concept art with a grain of salt. The final result could vary some from what we’re seeing in these pieces.

TRON Lightcycle Run is expected to open by 2021.
