Moat drained around Cinderella Castle for walkway expansion

Updated:

The expansion of a walkway near Cinderella Castle has created a rare sight for Magic Kingdom guests. The moat that surrounds Cinderella Castle has been drained so that construction equipment can access the area that will be home to the widened walkway.

WDWMagic provided a great look of the project, showing the drained moat and the initial preparations for the widened walkway. From the photo, we can see that the expanded walkway doesn’t appear to be too much larger than the original. But, as guests who have traveled along that walkway will note, any increase in width to the path will assist with congestion.

To put the location of the work in perspective, here’s an aerial photo. The walkway highlighted in yellow is the one that will be widened for guests.
