New Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Mission With Mando Debuts May 22, 2026

Updated:

The Mandalorian and Grogu are coming to the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The ride will be updated with the brand new mission on May 22, 2026 to coincide with the opening of The Mandalorian and Grogu movie.

Disney revealed during a SXSW presentation that the new Mandalorian mission will take guests to Tatooine, Cloud City, and even the wreckage of the second Death Star.

It’s unclear how or why the Mandalorian and Grogu will be at some of these iconic Star Wars destinations, or how they’ll all be connected in a singular mission. Guests will be tasked with doing something to help the cause, just as they are in the original Smugglers Run mission, and will likely bump and crash the Falcon while trying to help.

We’re excited to see some new life brought into the Smugglers Run attraction. We’re particularly interested to see how this update changes the preshow with Hondo Ohnaka and all of the ride’s occupying dialogue. Ideally, the new mission with Mando and Grogu will make Smugglers Run feel like a brand new ride.

If you’re a long-time reader on this site, you may know that we’re team Star Tours over Smugglers Run. While we like the interactivity of Smugglers Run, we felt the chaos of the scenario made it difficult to really appreciate what was happening. We also had hoped Smugglers Run would be regularly updated, like Star Tours, to add some unpredictability to the ride. But, this update in May 2026 will be the first in the ride’s seven years of existence in Disneyland and Disney World.
