Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort won’t reopen until Summer 2021 due to refurbishment

It’ll be a long time before guests can stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Disney has updated the Walt Disney World website to include that the Polynesian Village Resort will remain closed until Summer 2021. Previously, it was expected to reopen in Fall 2020.

Disney has stated that they’ll begin refurbishing areas in the resort, including guest rooms, beginning in October 2020. Specific details about the refurbishment have not been released. The Villas and Bungalows at the Polynesian Village Resort will remain open during the refurbishment.

The timing of this announcement comes as attendance is reportedly down throughout Walt Disney World. The lowered demand allows Disney to close one of its normally popular resorts to complete this construction project in a more timely fashion.
