Disney Springs will begin a phased reopening with enhanced safety measures on May 20

Disney Springs at Walt Disney World will begin a phased reopening process starting on May 20, 2020. The initial phase will include the reopening of some third-party shopping and dining experiences under the umbrella of enhanced safety measures.

According to the announcement, the new safety guidelines are as follows:

  • Increased cleaning procedures
  • Use of appropriate face coverings by both cast members and guests
  • Limited-contact guest services
  • Additional safety training for cast members

Disney adds that there will be limitations on capacity, parking and operating hours. Additional safety procedures may be announced closer to May 20.

The phased reopening at Disney Springs is a positive sign for guests hoping to return to Walt Disney World, but this is not an indication that the theme parks or resorts will be opening soon. Disney has said they will use a “cautious and sensible” approach when figuring out the right time to reopen their theme parks.
