Construction walls are up to remove the Leave a Legacy monuments at Epcot

Updated:

The transformation of Epcot’s main arrival area is officially underway. Construction walls have gone up around a large section of the Leave a Legacy monuments at the park’s entrance, marking the beginning of the end of the old monoliths.

Thanks to Blog Mickey, we can see that the western portion of the Leave a Legacy stones are now surrounded by construction walls. The monuments will be removed and the photo plaques (minus the large concrete stones) will be moved to a new location outside of the park.

Once the Leave a Legacy monuments are removed, Disney will overhaul the landscaping of the area to create a more inviting experience. The concept art below depicts trees, topiaries and a bunch of flowers.

An official completion date hasn’t been announced at this time. However, due to this project and the rumored changes coming to Future World, guests should plan on seeing construction walls at Epcot for the foreseeable future.
