Construction underway at the main entrance and International Gateway at Epcot

As we mentioned last week, construction is now underway for changes at the main entrance and main security area at Epcot. Work is also underway at the other end of the park to expand and improve the security and entrance area at the International Gateway.

New photos show that construction walls are up in several areas around the main entrance and guests are taking a new route from the trams to the turnstiles. There’s a lot of green walls facing guests as they make their way to the entrance.

So far, the current work appears to be focused on changes to the security and turnstile areas, but not quite yet on the larger overhaul that will see the Leave-A-Legacy stones removed in addition to other changes.

At the International Gateway, a portion of the existing bag check structure has been demolished.

Both areas are seeing alterations ahead of the large crowds expected to visit Walt Disney World for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. At the International Gateway, the work is also being completed in anticipation of the opening of the Disney Skyliner that will bring additional guests to the area.

This is just the beginning of the construction walls at Epcot. In addition to the main entrance overhaul that will completely transform the area in front of Spaceship Earth, rumors suggest that the overhaul will continue with significant changes in Future World.
