The Beaches & Cream restaurant at Disney’s Beach Club Resort will close for a significant refurbishment and expansion in 2019. The popular destination for burgers, ice cream and milkshakes will close in August 2019 before reopening in December 2019.
In addition to a refurbishment of the current space, Beaches & Cream will greatly expand its footprint by expanding into the adjacent arcade. A temporary location will offer ice cream – but not the iconic Kitchen Sink – while Beaches & Cream is closed.
Disney has been gradually phasing out its arcades around Walt Disney World, and here the current arcade will allow for Beaches & Cream to significantly increase its capacity. The current Beaches & Cream space is fairly small and fills up quickly with advanced reservations. Walk-in visitors are usually met with waits exceeding an hour if they hope to dine, and the ice cream pick-up area can see large crowds looking for a tasty treat.
In our personal experiences, we found that the arcade was one of the more popular arcades at Walt Disney World. It had a large variety of games and always seemed to have a decent number of guests. However, we always struggled to get a seat at Beaches & Cream without advanced reservations. This was a problem many guests faced who tried to get a walk-in table.
Hopefully the new version of Beaches & Cream will build upon what made the location a great spot for a fun meal.
