Barges for Epcot’s Harmonious will act as fountains during the day

The enormous barges that will be used during Harmonious, Epcot’s new nighttime spectacular, will also provide some daytime entertainment. The barges will serve as fountains during the day before turning into the centerpieces of Harmonious at night.

Disney has released new concept art that shows the barges acting as fountains in the middle of World Showcase Lagoon.

It’s believed these barges will be permanently installed, which is a change compared to the movable set pieces seen in IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. Guests won’t have an issue spotting the barges given their enormous overall size.

This is a welcome idea from Disney as some guests were concerned the barges would take away from the views in World Showcase. Instead, the barges may add to the overall kinetics in Epcot and become one of the largest fountains in Walt Disney World.

We’ll have to wait and see if the daytime fountains will be constantly running or if they’ll operate on a schedule.
