An update on the walkway that will connect the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom

It’s time for a construction update on the new walkway that will connect the Grand Floridian Resort to the Magic Kingdom. The walkway, which was started back in July 2019, has slowly progressed over the last several months.

These latest photos show that the swinging bridge has been installed and work is continuing on the opposite bank to prepare it for where the bridge will sit.

Another photo from Admiral01 earlier in the week shows that the bridge is on its pivot point on the bank closest to the Grand Floridian Resort.

The swinging bridge will allow guests to walk between the Magic Kingdom and the Grand Floridian Resort while still allowing boats to pass through to the canal where the Electrical Water Pageant is stored. This canal is also used when the Liberty Square Riverboat needs to be taken out for refurbishment.

A rough estimate suggests it will take about 20 minutes to walk from the Grand Floridian Resort to the Magic Kingdom. That’s about the same amount of time as it takes to walk from the Yacht Club Resort to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While that’s not the shortest journey, it’ll be nice to have another option for guests who don’t want to wait for the Monorail or a boat.
