We’ve been documenting the slow demolition of Innoventions West at Epcot over the last few months. Most of the demolition photos of Innoventions West have been seen from the ground, but today we have an aerial view of the progress.
Thanks to @bioreconstruct, we can see a bird’s-eye view of what’s still standing in the old home of Club Cool, character meet and greets and Starbucks. Roughly half of the building has been reduced to its steel framing.
A different angle shows some of the changes to the walkways around both Innoventions West and Innoventions East.
It looks like the steel framing will start coming down any day now. Work will then shift to the remaining portion of Innoventions West to remove the other half of the building.
Disney’s official concept art offers a preview of what Epcot will look like without one of its original buildings.
Landscaping and the Journey of Water, inspired by Moana will be added to Epcot once Innoventions West has been removed.
It’s safe to say that Epcot is going to look very different in the not too distant future. For now, guests should expect to be surrounded by construction walls as Epcot continues its transformation.
