Time is running out to see Rogers: The Musical at Disney California Adventure. The show was listed as a limited-time engagement that would end on August 31, 2023. Despite calls to extend the show’s run, the Orange County Register reports that Disneyland officials have no plan to run the show beyond its current closing date.
Unfortunately, it sounds like nothing will immediately replace Rogers: The Musical inside the Hyperion Theater.
Via the Orange County Register:
At the moment, nothing new is scheduled to replace “Rogers” in the Hyperion Theater. It took six months to prepare “Rogers” for its Hyperion debut — so it’s unlikely anything new will be moving into the 2,000-seat theater this year. Disneyland has not posted any Hyperion acting roles to the Disney Auditions website — typically the first sign a new show is in the works.
There’s always the chance Rogers: The Musical will return at some point in the future. But, for now, Disney appears intent to let the show end and allow the cast to pursue new opportunities.
The Hyperion Theater will likely sit empty again just as it did between 2020 and the debut of Rogers: The Musical in June 2023. While the news of Rogers: The Musical closing isn’t a surprise considering it’s following its posted end date, it’s always disappointing to see live entertainment close without a suitable replacement.
