The D23 Expo is a time for the Walt Disney Company to excite fans with announcements and updates about its entire portfolio. The 2019 D23 Expo promises to deliver more exciting news, including upcoming additions to Disney theme parks. But now there’s a bit of mystery on the schedule.
While most of the attention has been centered on the “Disney Parks, Experiences and Products” presentation scheduled for August 25 between 10:30am and 12pm, a new addition to the schedule has Disney fans buzzing.
A “Secret Walt Disney Project” presentation has been added to August 24 between 1:30pm and 2:30pm. The topic of the presentation will be revealed on August 22.
Disney fans have been wildly speculating about what the secret project could be. As fun as it is to believe Disney is ready to announce a fifth theme park, an idea that’s probably not going to happen in the near future, the timing and location of the announcement doesn’t fully support that idea.
While there are rumors about potential additions to several of Disney’s theme parks, there haven’t been any rumors supporting a fifth theme park announcement. It’s also worth noting an announcement as big as a fifth gate would receive prominent billing and wouldn’t be tucked into the middle of the expo away from the main hall. Theme park announcements will likely all occur within the theme park presentation, and while the secret announcement could be a significant one, it’s awfully hopeful and optimistic to expect it to be a new land or park.
