Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Closing for Refurbishment Until Summer 2024

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closing for an extended refurbishment in 2024. The coaster will close to guests on January 8, 2024 and is currently scheduled to reopen at some point in Summer 2024.

Here’s the announcement from the attraction’s page on Walt Disney World’s website:

Starting on January 8, 2024, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will be closed for routine refurbishment. This attraction is planned to reopen in summer 2024.

While Disney cites this as a routine refurbishment, there’s a bit more going on here as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is closing for another multi-month closure just after it had an extended closure in early 2023. The coaster has had significant downtime over the past several months, and it’s believed this upcoming refurbishment aims to fix ride systems that are still not working correctly.

To date, there’s no indication this upcoming refurbishment will change Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s theme or anything about the ride experience. It appears Aerosmith will live on (or ‘Dream On’) for another day until Disney finally decides to commit to a new theme.

Guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios should be aware that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster’s closure will have a big impact on wait times around the park. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a small roster of attractions and shows, and losing a big draw like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be noticeable.
