Remember the short-lived NBA Experience at Disney Springs? The location permanently closed back in August 2021 after opening just two years earlier in the summer of 2019. It sounded like Disney wanted to move on from the failed NBA Experience as quickly as possible.
Imagine our surprise when we randomly discovered a bunch of NBA Experience merchandise at a Walt Disney World resort.
The following display was in the Thimbles and Threads store at Disney’s BoardWalk. The merch stand had cups, mugs, shirts, polos and more with the NBA Experience logo.
It may seem odd finding these items here, but there is a loose connection to basketball in the area. Just outside of the store are a handful of midway games where guests can test their skills. One of those games asks guests to shoot basketballs for the chance to win a – you guessed it – miniature basketball.
Maybe Disney thinks guests enjoying that game will want a basketball mug? Or maybe they hope guests will assume the shirts relate to the game and not the shuttered Disney Springs location? Who knows. But head on down to Disney’s BoardWalk if you’re still looking for NBA Experience items.
