Video: Ride testing for the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster at Epcot

Most news surrounding the Guardians of the Galaxy indoor coaster at Epcot has been focused on its enormous ride building. Supposedly you can fit four Spaceship Earths inside! Now, we finally have a look at some actual ride details and testing.

The video below shows that the coaster cars will have a controlled spin, allowing guests to see the show scenes over the course of the attraction. Keep an eye on the yellow car and how it moves during the ride.

The actual ride footage happens around the 2-minute mark.

This technology isn’t new in the theme park world, but it is new for Disney. Each car will have a controlled spin – not to be confused with a regular spinning coaster – that will allow Disney to control where the rider is positioned at any given time. This should allow for guests to view show scenes during the ride easier than if they had to locate them as they speed past.

We also know that the ride will be one of the longest indoor coasters in the world. Beyond that, we don’t know too many other details about the coaster, including fastest speed, tallest hills and total time of the ride.

The Guardians of the Galaxy coaster is expected to open in 2021.
