Update on the widened walkway near Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom

Updated:

Work continues to widen the walkway near Cinderella Castle that connects Liberty Square with Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom.

New photos show that a large amount of concrete has been poured to create the wall for the expanded walkway, but there’s still a significant amount of work left to complete before the path is ready for guests.

We can also see that the moat is still drained in this area while work continues.

The expanded walkway won’t be too much wider than the original. However, the wider path is a welcome change considering how narrow it was prior to this project. A large stroller stopping in the middle of the walkway could block the entire flow of guests who are usually forced to walk in single file.

An estimated opening date hasn’t been announced, but we imagine Disney hopes to have it open and ready for guests before the large summer crowds arrive.
