Surprise meet and greets are coming to the Town Square at the Magic Kingdom

Updated:

Some new characters are going to be popping up in the Town Square at the Magic Kingdom. In honor of Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration, guests will experience surprise character meet and greets on a regular basis.

For example, Nick and Judy from Zootopia were meeting guests near the Magic Kingdom’s flagpole on January 18.

Cast members have reportedly stated that several unique characters will make appearances during the Celebration. Some characters mentioned were Robin Hood, Gideon and Honest John from Pinocchio, Remy and Emile from Ratatouille and several others. An advanced schedule won’t be available for the characters.

Pluto, who was originally meeting in this location, can now be found over at the Big Top in Fantasyland.

These surprise character experiences might be one of our favorite aspects of Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration. With most of Walt Disney World revolving on a fairly regular schedule, it’s fun to see something that will be seemingly random from day to day. These will be unique encounters with characters who are rarely seen by the public. That alone makes the Celebration feel like a special event.

Great idea, Disney!
