Smoking and vaping banned at Walt Disney World theme parks beginning May 1, 2019

Disney has announced a new policy change that will ban smoking within Walt Disney World theme parks beginning May 1, 2019. The smoking ban will cover all of the Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports and the parks out in California.

Beginning on May 1, 2019, smoking will only be allowed in designated areas outside of the theme park entrances and at Disney Springs. This new policy change will also include e-cigarettes.

Smoking was already prohibited at Disney resort hotel rooms, patios and balconies.

Below is a quick FAQ with Disney regarding the smoking change.

Why is smoking no longer allowed at Walt Disney World Resort theme parks, water parks and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex?

Walt Disney World Resort makes updates from time to time and the removal of smoking areas is intended to provide a more enjoyable experience for everyone who visits.

Are electronic cigarettes and vaping permitted at Walt Disney World Resort?

Smoking and vaping are only permitted in designated smoking areas.

Where can guests smoke?

Beginning May 1, 2019, guests may smoke in designated areas located outside the park entry points and in specified areas at Disney Resort hotels and Disney Springs.

Previously, Walt Disney World attempted to keep smoking areas a fair distance away from regular guest areas. As plans for the theme parks have evolved, guests have seen the smoking areas change, move and shrink to accommodate new attractions. The most notable was the walkway between Tomorrowland and Storybook Circus at the Magic Kingdom that’s being altered to make room for the new TRON coaster.

What do you think of this policy change?
