The Walt Disney World Railroad might be inching closer to reopening at the Magic Kingdom. A new report suggests cast members will begin training on the iconic attraction, signaling the railroad may welcome back guests in the near future.
The report comes as work continues to speed ahead for TRON Lightcycle Run in Tomorrowland. The construction of the new coaster caused the closure of the Walt Disney World Railroad all the way back in late 2018. The train will pass through a brand new tunnel beneath TRON’s grand canopy while passing through Tomorrowland.
While this report is encouraging, Disney hasn’t announced an official reopening date. It’s also unclear if the railroad will make its full circuit when it initially reopens. It’s possible, though unlikely, that the train could operate in “shuttle mode” where it would travel back and forth between two stations and not make the full loop.
We can’t wait for the railroad to start running again. The Magic Kingdom hasn’t felt the same without it these past several years.
