Passholder previews coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World

Annual Passholders may have a special opportunity to see Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge before it opens at Walt Disney World on August 29, 2019. A new announcement from Disney states that previews will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis to the Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Annual Passholder groups.

Below is the statement from Disney:

“We’re excited to share that Platinum, Platinum Plus and Premier Annual Passholders will be among the first to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with complimentary special preview opportunities planned before the land’s opening on Aug. 29. Capacity is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. More information and registration details for previews will be shared at a later date.”

Specific details regarding the previews haven’t been released at this time. It’s also unclear how Passholders will need to sign up or register for their visit to a galaxy far, far away.

This appears to be Walt Disney World’s first attempt to curb the enormous crowds that are expected for the opening on August 29. So far, they haven’t announced any plans to mimic Disneyland’s very successful system that required advanced reservations to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in four-hour blocks. Granting select Passholders early access may assist some, but it’s doubtful that it will have any kind of noticeable impact on the crowds.

Stay tuned for more information regarding Walt Disney World’s attempt to prepare for the chaos that will be Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
