Walt Disney World is officially 50! The celebration began the morning of October 1 and huge crowds arrived to enjoy all the new food and merchandise.
The Magic Kingdom saw the largest crowds as guests flocked to be apart of the magic.

The crowds appear to match some of Walt Disney World’s peak times around the holidays.

Most guests made merchandise and the new food items their top priority. Ride times remained relatively low while lines for merch and food swelled.

Unfortunately, things got a bit crazy in the Emporium. Guests swarmed to grab the new 50th anniversary merchandise, with some fighting over specific items.

Shoulder-to-shoulder chaos inside the Emporium reminded us how crazy a merchandise drop can be. Far too many of these guests will immediately list their items on eBay, ruining the experience for guests who just want a commemorative item.
Our thoughts go out to all of the cast members at this time. Not only are they what truly makes Walt Disney World special, they deserve all the praise in the world for dealing with unruly guests.
