Kali River Rapids will close for its annual refurbishment in January 2021

Update: The expected refurbishment has been extended to April 1, 2021. Kali River Rapids is now scheduled to be closed for about four months. As always, Disney’s refurbishment calendars are subject to change without notice.

Disney has scheduled the annual refurbishment for Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The water-based attraction is expected to be closed from January 3, 2021 through February 19, 2021.

The refurbishment period is expected to be brief. As seen in previous years, the water will be drained from the ride and workers will complete any necessary maintenance. It’s worth noting that Disney’s schedule isn’t set in stone and the refurbishment could extend beyond the February 19 date.

Few things are predictable at Walt Disney World during these times, but Kali River Rapids’ annual refurbishment is a staple of the winter months. The cooler temperatures are a great opportunity to close the ride for repairs when few guests want to get wet.
