Epcot’s newest restaurant, Space 220, will officially open on September 20, 2021. Ahead of welcoming guests, the restaurant finally unveiled its highly-anticipated menu. The menu features a variety of drinks and dishes, but does it include everyone’s favorite stereotypical space treats?
Is there Tang and Astronaut ice cream (freeze dried ice cream) on the menu?!
Yes, there is! Sort of.
Guests hoping to order these space staples on their own will be disappointed. But, adventurous adult guests who order The Big Tang cocktail will find both treats.
The Big Tang is made of: Avion Silver, Grand Marnier, Tang-Infused Agave Nectar, Grapefruit, Strawberry, Served with Astronaut Ice Cream.
Guests will have to settle for Tang-Infused Agave Nectar rather than the beverage crystals on their own. We’re also going to assume the Astronaut Ice Cream isn’t the full Neapolitan goodness, regrettably. Still, it’s fun to see these two items appearing in some shape or form at Space 220.
It’s easy to understand why ice cream developed for space missions is included at Space 220, but why Tang? If you’re unfamiliar with the iconic drink, Tang wasn’t actually created for space missions. However, NASA did use Tang in a variety of space experiments in the early 1960s.
We can’t wait to dine at Space 220 in the near future.
