Director James Gunn calls Epcot’s new Guardians of the Galaxy coaster “utterly mind-blowing”

Updated:

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the new coaster that Disney is building on the site of the old Universe of Energy Pavilion at Epcot. The attraction has been billed as a rotating, story-telling coaster featuring a reverse launch that the whole family can enjoy.

Recently, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn held a Q&A on his Instagram and Disney fans who were craving more information about the coaster asked him what the ride will look like. Gunn described the ride as “utterly mind-blowing.”

Gunn went on to state that he consulted on Guardians of the Galaxy โ€“ Mission: Breakout at Disney’s California Adventure and is currently working on the coaster at Walt Disney World.

To date, we’ve seen the ride vehicles for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Disney has stated that it will be “one of the longest” indoor coasters in the world. Insiders have reported that the ride vehicles will rotate to position guests towards “scenes” throughout the attraction.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was originally scheduled to open in 2021, but that date is subject to change.
