Amidst the sad news that Disney is laying off tens of thousands of employees, some construction projects have continued at Walt Disney World. Crews have been particularly busy at Epcot where multiple changes are happening in Future World and World Showcase.
One of the most noticeable and easy to document is the demolition of the Electric Umbrella quick service restaurant. Work began a couple weeks ago when the exterior seating area was removed, and now we can see that the demo has spread throughout the restaurant.

Taking a look inside, the iconic neon umbrellas can still be seen mounted on the wall.

Not much is left of the seating area on the upper level. Or the ceiling for that matter.

The second level will be removed completely during the remodel.
Disney hasn’t released any official plans on what will live in the former home of the Electric Umbrella, but it is believed that a new dining location and Starbucks will eventually occupy the space.
